Sophos has launched a better version of its SafeGuard Enterprise to present cloud encryption capabilities and protect critical data in public, private and hybrid cloud environments.
According to the corporate, SafeGuard Encryption for Cloud Storage automatically encrypts files uploaded to the cloud from any managed endpoint, with access gained by a password on the way to allow secure file access from anywhere.
It claimed that with SafeGuard Encryption for File Share, only privileged users have access to sensitive data because central keys â" which offer access to files for authorised users or groups and keep these files encrypted for every person else â" are used. The platform also ensures that each one files remain encrypted whether they're copied or moved to a different drive, network or device.
The capability have been made possible because of a partnership with Egnyte to integrate SafeGuard Enterprise and Egnyte's HybridCloud file server, which offers enterprises an end-to-end solution for directly managing the encryption of information stored locally or within the cloud.
It allows users to define, manage and own their encryption keys to secure designated files. The firms claimed that users have access to files anywhere at any time, whether behind the firewall or within the cloud, in addition to consistent encryption standards at every point.
Vineet Jain, CEO and co-founding father of Egnyte, said: âWhile the cloud opens up many opportunities to collaborate seamlessly, it also presents security issues and uncertainties, especially as employees use personal devices to access company information.
âWhat's unique about our partnership with Sophos is that the aggregate of our services provides the market with a hybrid cloud solution that scales up and down as needed, and offers IT managers with ultimate control over their data and the flexibility to regulate encryption keys without additional support.â
Matthias Pankert, vice-president of product management at Sophos, said: âIn today's business world, users are everywhere and information protection has to be everywhere too. With businesses continuing to experience costly and embarrassing breaches, it's more important than ever to secure data. The most recent version of SafeGuard Enterprise provides complete data protection.
âOne of the most important drivers for adoption is knowing the way to carry a safety policy from the shopper side through to the cloud provider. As providers like Egnyte develop these abilities, enterprise cloud computing shall be utilised even further. An example is correct mobility freedom, the idea that smartphones and tablets become viable equals to the laptop or desktop. We see our partnership with Egnyte evolving to support this shift someday.â
