Members of the White Hat Events committee presented a cheque for a record-breaking £185,000 to ChildLine at this week's Infosecurity Europe Conference in London.
The amount represents proceeds from the White Hat Ball, which raised £115K in February, and other activities organised over the past year by this knowledge security charity including the White Hat Rally, participation within the London Marathon and a charity cocktail event on the BT Tower.
Committee chairman Gerry O'Neill and the 2011 chairman, David Morgan, presented the cheque to a representative ChildLine volunteer worker from the Shoreditch region, Grania Hyde-White.
O'Neill said: â£185K is a brilliant amount and enables ChildLine to continue their great work of helping vulnerable or concerned children and youths, via their telephone helpline, text and email services.
âWarm thanks for this record amount needs goes to these excited about each of our events, whether organisers, participants, supporters or donors. Thanks all, you're helping us make a true difference to young lives."
Esther Rantzen, founding father of ChildLine, said: âBecause of the intense amount of cash that you've got been ready to raise through the years, ChildLine is now ready where, for the primary time, we're answering every child who needs us, the 1st time they call.â
