SecurEnvoy offers soft tokens for employee-chosen devices

SecurEnvoy has launched a brand new service where users are permitted to decide which device they need to receive their soft token on.

Named SecurBYOT (bring your individual token), the corporate said it has the power to provision 100,000 new users in under an hour by letting them have their authentication token as an SMS on a mobile, an app on a smartphone or tablet, or as a soft token on a laptop.

Users may swap between devices at will, although they will only use one device at a time. In the event that they elect to switch the device, the system automatically decommissions and wipes the former key.

Andy Kemshall, co-founder and technical director at SecurEnvoy, said: “At the top of the day the user knows best how they'd desire to work and with what devices, and letting them administrate it themselves means fewer calls to the helpdesk.

“That said, if an organisation deems a selected style of device unsuitable, they still retain the correct to dam it. We work at the principle of 1 licence per user, so once they change or upgrade their device, the licence simply moves with them without incurring additional expense.”

With SecurBYOT, SecurEnvoy has also introduced ‘group deployment' in parallel with the unique provisioning wizard; organisations can define a single group within the company's directory â€" Active Directory, Novell E-Directory, Sun Directory Server or OpenLDAP â€" in order that anyone inside the group is automatically and seamlessly provisioned.
