Mozilla Firefox and Opera released new versions in their web browsers last week to introduce new security measures and patch numerous vulnerabilities.
Firefox version 12 plugs 14 holes, seven of which have been deemed critical. The fresh installment also comes outfitted with a more seamless update process including background updates, ending the desire for users to manually approve fixes every time they're released â" a time-consuming process.
âWe put a variety of work into making the Firefox update experience easier. Firefox simplifies the update process for Windows users by removing the user account control dialogue (UAC) pop-up while maintaining the safety of your system. Once a user gives explicit permission to Firefox on their first installation, they won't be prompted again for subsequent releases,â it said.
Opera released the beta version of its own version 12. Codenamed âWahoo', it said that among the many key inclusions is support for a do-not-track header, which acts to stop websites from tracking users. The potential currently exists in all the major browsers except Chrome.
