Williams Lea uses LogRhythm\'s log management and SIEM

Outsourcing firm Williams Lea has deployed integrated log management and security information and event management (SIEM) from LogRhythm.

The communication consultancy, which employs approximately 10,500 staff globally, selected the technology from LogRhythm to make sure compliance with ISO 27001 and PCI-DSS.

Andrew Allison, information security manager at Williams Lea, said handling both internal and external information, in addition to having 4,500 UK employees access the network, meant it had to observe numerous compliance obligations that require the continual, automated collection and analysis of all log data generated by IT systems.

He said: “We required an answer that may cater to the various nature of our business and enable us to automate log management across each of the different platforms and domains our IT systems operate on. We were monitoring millions of event logs each day, and LogRhythm's centralised and automatic solution stood out for having the ability to help us meet these compliance requirements quickly and efficiently.

“The LogRhythm solution monitors consolidated user account activity across our networks, allowing us to spot and remediate any suspicious behaviour and potential security threats in real time. As an example, this permits us to instantly recognise and forestall any previous employees trying to access our system.

“Due to the solution's intuitive automated report-generation capabilities, operational efficiency across our IT infrastructure has also dramatically improved. The time required for log review has already been reduced by two to 3 hours an afternoon, and we'll be expanding our use of the answer to optimise efficiency across our operations.”

Ross Brewer, vice-president and managing director of international markets at LogRhythm, said: “The big-data challenge is increasingly dominating corporate agendas, and as among the world's leading providers of corporate information solutions, Williams Lea is being entrusted with growing volumes of sensitive company data.

“As such, this is a great endorsement that the corporate has chosen LogRhythm to aid both deliver its compliance requirements and improve its data security processes.”
