Cloud-based compliance and knowledge security vendor Trustwave has announced that it's to amass M86 Security.
Trustwave said that it has signed a definitive agreement to obtain the internet security vendor with the purchase expected to shut in the following few weeks. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
The acquisition will see Trustwave add M86's Secure Web Gateway, WebMarshal, Web Filtering and Reporting Suite products in addition to enhance its position in email security with the addition of the M86Â MailMarshal.
Upon completion of the purchase, Trustwave said that the M86Â Security Labs will merge with its own SpiderLabs, the advanced security team within Trustwave involved in penetration testing, incident response, application security and security research. Trustwave also plans to integrate M86 Security products into its cloud-based TrustKeeper portal.
M86 Security began life as Log-In Data before that rebranded to 8e6 Technologies in 2000, while a merger with Marshal Technologies in 2008 created the corporate Marshal8e6. It then rebranded to M86 Security in September 2009 and added technology from Finjan in November 2009.
