M86 improves email gateway to raised protect against targeted attacks

M86 Security has announced new technologies to combat targeted attacks and block malware more efficiently.

According to the corporate, its cloud-based Targeted Attacks Service, an addition to the M86 MailMarshal Secure Email Gateway, protects organisations from targeted attacks that use malicious embedded URL links in emails because the initial infection method.

It said the detection technology in version 7 of the gateway, extensively utilized within the M86 Secure Web Gateway, scans emails for embedded URL links to potentially malicious websites as they're accessed, although the message is consistently forwarded to other recipients and whatever the device used to access the e-mail.

If a malicious link is located, it substitutes URL links in an email message so as to redirect them in the course of the Targeted Attack Service when a user clicks on them.

John Vigouroux, chief executive officer of M86 Security, said: “Deploying these technologies to the cloud to be used in all of our core security solutions is a compelling move so as to provide our customers with the top level of defence against today's complex targeted attacks.”

The company also announced the brand new version of its Secure Web Gateway this week to supply additional networking, third-party integration options with the ICAP servers or client devices, and the hybrid cloud service as a regular feature.

It claimed that M86 SWG version 10.2 allows web scanners to be organised and managed by dedicated groups, giving organisations the flexibleness and affordability they have to deploy the answer in large to large distributed environments.

Both technologies can be available through authorised channel partners and distributors in April 2012.
