IT skills certification provider CompTIA has announced the introduction of a mastery-level credential in IT security.
It said that the advanced security practitioner certification is now available for study. It's intended for info assurance professionals holding technical leadership roles in an IT enterprise environment and who've ten years' experience in IT and five-plus years of hands-on, technical experience.
The exam covers security skills and methods in enterprise security; risk management; research and analysis; and integration of computing, communications and business disciplines.
The certification is accredited by the International Organisation for Standardization (ISO) and the yankee National Standards Institute (ANSI) under the information of ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024. It's the primary in a brand new series of mastery-level credentials CompTIA is developing.
Terry Erdle, executive vice-president of skills certification at CompTIA, said: âThe growing shortage of IT security professionals is probably the biggest cyber-security threats that organisations face.
âThere is a superb and immediate need for IT professionals with the advanced skills essential to secure data, devices and networks from the rapidly evolving and expanding volume of cyber-security threats. With that during mind, CompTIA has created this mastery-level skills certification that targets the best levels of enterprise security.â
