Halon Security launches firewalls with support for virtualised environments

Halon Security has announced a brand new range of firewalls with the safety Router (SR) series.

The Swedish email security and spam prevention appliance vendor said the Halon SR series offers performance and security with new hardware appliances and new platform support for virtualisation platforms. In keeping with the corporate, all models within the series are built on a brand new operating system, developed from the bottom up with concentrate on Ipv6.

It also said that the Halon SR platform features load balancing on level seven of the OSI model, clustering, AES encryption and BGP redundancy.

For customers already with a virtualised environment, the Halon Virtual Security Router offers the identical functionality as Halon SR with optimisation for virtualised platforms equivalent to VMware vSphere, Citrix XenServer or KVM.

Peter Falck, president of Halon Security, said: “We found that only a few, if any, firewalls currently in the marketplace offered what we now are presenting in Halon SR relating to pricing, and with an administration and management interface designed for humans.

“We believe in freedom of collection of what hardware platform customers like to utilise when securing their enterprise. With the recent Halon SR series, customers can choose a hardware appliance, a virtualisation environment or a traditional server hardware solution without compromising on security, performance or management.”
