The Cyber Security Challenge has hired a former Post Office CIO as its first CEO.
Duncan Hine, previously the pinnacle of security, resilience and data assurance for NATS, the organisation chargeable for UK air traffic services, might be accountable for building and implementing the third year of challenge competitions and activities and for the delivery of a marketing strategy.
The first winner of the challenge was Dan Summers, a postman from Wakefield. Judy Baker, who led the advance and launch of the challenge, will remain as chair of the board.
Hine was also previously a board member for integrity and security in the house Office's Identity and Passport Service, CIO on the Post Office and a senior director at QinetiQ.
âIn the united kingdom we all know we have got latent capability and many hidden talent, we're just not joining the dots. Cyber security seems complex and inaccessible to too numerous people, but by offering a far better structure, greater access and much more opportunity i think many more people around the country will quickly realise that they are able to play a job in securing the united kingdom online. My job is to ensure this occurs,â he said.
Currently in its second year, the challenge is a sequence of competitions designed by leading security, education and government organisations as a response to the numerous shortage of skilled professionals within the cyber security sector. The primary set of finalists was announced this week.
