Sophos has announced the launch of the following version of its mobile device management technique to offer support for iOS5, Android, Windows Mobile devices and RIM BlackBerry.
According to the corporate, Sophos Mobile Control 2.0 ensures customers have complete protection everywhere and on any device and will manage all platforms from one web-based console.
Among the features inside the new edition are an enterprise application store that Sophos claimed has the appear and feel of a standard app store, but allows IT administrators to configure, require or recommend apps to download. Also offered is a reporting dashboard for compliance enforcement that permits IT administrators to set specific rules that execute consistent policies from device to device, including such actions as denying unencrypted devices or blacklisting specific applications.
This logs all compliance issues on an online-based dashboard that enables the administrator to peer all non-compliant devices, details of the violations and actions required to remediate the difficulty. Non-compliant devices may be automatically disabled from receiving further access to corporate data.
Finally a self-service portal allows users to access features comparable to lock mobile devices, wipe devices, locate devices and reset passwords, after registering an employee device.
Matthias Pankert, vice-president of product management, mobile data protection, at Sophos, said: âWe remember that businesses are increasingly mobile and their workforce is adding a further layer of complexity. With the enhancements within Sophos Mobile Control, we're aiming to streamline and simplify device and information protection, while giving employees the versatility they would like and IT departments the safety they wish.â
